The Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs at UNC-Chapel Hill invites nominations for Faculty Awards for Global Excellence to recognize faculty members whose contributions advance the University’s global vision, articulated in the 2020 strategic plan, Carolina Next: Innovations for Public Good.

Up to three awards will be presented annually to faculty demonstrating achievements in any combination of the three strategic objectives in Carolina Next 7.0: Globalize.

  1. Global Partnerships | Strengthens global partnerships and brings the world to Carolina
  2. Global Education | Expands the menu of global education opportunities for all Carolina students; diversifies and strengthens global learning across the Carolina curriculum on campus and abroad
  3. Global Research | Amplifies the virtues of Carolina’s culture of low stone walls by collaborating with international partners to address shared challenges

Preference will be given to faculty whose contributions enhance UNC-Chapel Hill’s global reputation and visibility; demonstrate impact, influence or innovation; and involve interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary teaching or research.

The vice provost for global affairs will present the awards at a special ceremony in the FedEx Global Education Center in May 2024. Selected faculty will receive an award of $5,000.

Funding for the Faculty Awards for Global Excellence is made possible through contributions to the Chancellor’s Global Education Fund.
