Gillings on the Ground - Fall 2023 Interest Form
Gillings on the Ground is a 6-week training program or "mini-course" that combines cohort-based learning with interdisciplinary training to develop a team of students primed with the skills – and the structure and coordination within the Gillings School – to work with communities in disaster preparedness and relief. Courses are led by experienced community leaders and faculty members who focus on various aspects of disaster relief and community engagement.

Following the completion of the training program, trainees will be awarded a certificate of completion and access to the following:
 - connections with community partners to complete disaster-related service opportunities both locally and areas hit by disaster
 - opportunity for participation in a disaster-related field trip/learning activity with our community partners during the spring 2024 semester
 - access to an exclusive listserv of curated disaster-related service activities submitted by community partners
 - an exclusive celebratory event following the completion of fall 2022 sessions for program participants to connect with one another.

Trainings will be held over 6 weeks between September and November. Recordings of all sessions will be made available in the event that you cannot make a session. In the spring, participants will have the opportunity to complete a disaster-related field trip/activity curated by our community partners.

Fall 2022 Training Program
We strongly encourage participants to attend all six sessions as the content builds from week to week, but we understand that conflicts happen. We welcome you at any session you are able to attend. Please note that recordings of all sessions will also be made available in the event that you cannot make it to a session.

NOTE: In order to receive the certificate of completion and to gain access to the disaster-related opportunities listserv, you must attend FOUR of the six sessions.
