We are proud to sponsor this year's convention and career fair.
The mission of the Hussman School of Journalism and Media at UNC-Chapel Hill is to prepare students to ignite the public conversation in our state, the nation and the world, and to understand the role of communication in fostering democracy.
The school offers award-winning graduate and undergraduate programs on campus in Chapel Hill and rigorous online graduate programs for working communications professionals. Applications opened this week for our new, one-year journalism master's program of study, which launches in summer 2023.
Our students have belonged to the Carolina Association of Black Journalists since 1991 and NAHJ at UNC-Chapel Hill since 2020. Three members of our school community have been inducted to the NABJ Hall of Fame, and our alumni have accounted for four NABJ Journalist of the Year awards and three NABJ Student Journalist of the Year selections.
Our school welcomed Raul Reis, who most recently served as dean of the School of Communication at Emerson College, as our new dean this summer. At Carolina, Dean Reis is emphasizing community; diversity, equity and inclusion; and building on the school’s traditional strengths of teaching, research and public service with a commitment to student success and thought leadership in media and journalism.
