Because of these increased cancer rates, a group of four experts has been assembled to review current thyroid cancer research and identify additional research needed to better understand the patterns and potential causes of thyroid cancer in NC. This panel will develop a set of recommendations for new research that may help explain the elevated rates of thyroid cancer in NC. The panel also will make recommendations that address the development of environmental, clinical, biologic, and epidemiologic monitoring of thyroid cancer in NC along with any other resources that may be needed to support future research. The panel will convene in May 2019.
