Applicants should:
  • be full-time, fourth year medical students underrepresented in medicine, in good standing at a United States MD or DO medical school program
  • have completed core clinical clerkships prior to participating
  • have a record of good academic standing
  • have taken and passed USMLE Step 1 or COMLEX Level 1

For many reasons, academic credit through UNC SOM will not be available for this rotation experience; however, if there is a pathway for a student to propose their own independent study experience through their home institution, students are encouraged to use our rotation towards that experience. We are happy to fill out any required home institution evaluations and assign a P/F grade for that part of their individual experience.
